Kakulbendidigiliya Primary School
Even though education in Sri Lanka is free, many families struggle to afford basic needs such as stationery, uniforms, and shoes. While the teachers work hard to do their best, the children need more assistance to succeed. Blue Lanka Tours believes in giving every child the tools they need, as “it takes a village to raise a child.” We brought gifts to this rural community, hoping to make a meaningful difference.
Rural towns like Horowpathana and Kebithigollawa are often overlooked because of their remoteness, but they deserve attention too. We encourage the public to nominate schools in need, and we base our outreach on firsthand experiences in these communities.
Despite the economic hardships, families here continue to prioritize education, striving for a better future for their children. Investing in these young students is an investment in the nation’s future. Most local families are traditional farmers, the backbone of the economy, and supporting their children’s education is a way to honor their dedication.
We were fortunate to meet such a wonderful community. The children’s grateful smiles and warm welcome touched our hearts. Spending time with them was a joy as we learned about their lives, dreams, and talents. Their dedication, combined with their teachers’ commitment, will shape them into capable and skilled students.
There’s no limit to what children can achieve when given a chance, and we want to provide that chance to as many as possible.
Our next event will be on October 11, 2024, when we bring Blooming Smiles to Nutbourne Tamil Vidyalaya in Dayagama, a remote village nestled in the Agarapatana Valley in the Central Hills. We look forward to bringing joy to more children in need.
The journey continues, and we will keep bringing Blooming Smiles to schools that need help, no matter how remote. Providing educational supplies to children and teachers makes learning and teaching easier. Stay tuned for more stories from Blue Lanka Tours as we continue this mission.
