Elephant Safari Tour in Sri Lanka

The Elephant Tour Itinerary offers the main highlights of where many elephants can be found and seen. Blue Lanka Tours vehemently advocated the conservation of our Elephant species and also ethical tourism which captures animal welfare when tailoring such itineraries involving wildlife.

The Asian elephant population density in Sri Lanka is around 10 times that of any other country. Because this little island is home to 10% of the world’s Asia elephant population, Sri Lanka provides unmatched opportunity to observe Asian elephants in the wild. Because of habitat destruction and human-elephant conflict, this charismatic species is losing ground. Elephants have become a cultural emblem of Sri Lanka, yet they are restricted to the island’s dry zone. A tiny herd of elephants lives in the Adam’s Peak region, and they are the remaining forest-dwelling elephants in Sri Lanka’s wet zone.

Elephants have gathered in a variety of arid zone regions where there is abundance of water and feed. One of the finest wildlife shows in Sri Lanka is a large gathering of elephants in Minneriya. During the dry season, which lasts from August to mid-October, 200-300 elephants gather in the wide grassy plains of Minneriya Reservoir for grazing and social activities. In addition to Minneriya, the greatest sites to see these magnificent giants are Yala, Udawalawe, Kaudulla, Kalawewa, Hurulu, and Wasgomuwa National Parks.
